INFO – Email Scam Alert
Good afternoon Wolverines,
We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to alert you to an ongoing email scam that has been targeting our members.
Scammers have been sending fraudulent emails that appear to be from our President, Georgina Anderson. These emails frequently as for a “favor” which might include purchasing gift cards or sending money.
Please be aware of the following:
- Communications from us will never ask for sensitive information (like passwords or payment details) via email. We will never request that coaches, managers or members make purchases on behalf of any board member.
- Do not click on any suspicious links or download attachments from unknown senders.
- If you receive an email claiming to be from us but are unsure of its legitimacy, do not respond directly. Instead, contact us at info@wolverineshockey.ca for verification.
If you have already responded to any suspicious emails or believe your personal information may have been compromised, we strongly encourage you to update your passwords and monitor your accounts closely.
How to Spot a Scam:
- The email might have spelling or grammatical errors.
- The sender’s email address might look unusual or unfamiliar.
- There may be a sense of urgency, asking you to act quickly.
- The email might ask for payment or personal details without prior communication.
